Slated for 7th December 2019 at Alliance Francaise in Accra, this year marks the fourth edition of the Worla Festival of Arts & Music (WORLAFEST) – an annual all day music and arts event held in Accra-Ghana. The name itself “Worla” means “the creator”. The festival is also an extension of the artistic facets of Ghanaian musician Worlasi, who doubles as a painter & animator.
A highlight of this year’s edition will be Worlasi’s set during the concert. He’ll be performing some songs off his album ‘The Man & The God’. Also be on the lookout for art pieces from various artisans from across West Africa. The festival will kick off at 3pm with the arts and crafts exhibition and DJ Sets from DJ’s from Cameroun, Tanzania & Ghana. The main concert will then kick off at 6pm.
However, Worlasi has hinted of releasing a new album, with details and cover art pending for announcement.
Worlasi’s abilities cut across music and figure painting. Worlasi’s interest in music started while listening to radio, and sampling the beats of songs he felt didn’t quite meet high standards. His inspiration to do music comes from personal experiences and what goes on around him, which he translates into instrumentals and then to words.
Worlasi’s music has seen him share the stage with some of Ghana’s finest musical acts on platforms such as ACCRA.ALT’s Sabolai Radio, Dark Suburb’s awakening concert, Beatphreaks, and The Unheard Voices among others. He was also touted by BBC’s DJ Rita Ray as one of the artists to watch in 2017.
