Six South African DJs will battle it out to secure a spot at the 10th edition of Red Bull 3Style World DJ Championships in Moscow, Russia, in April.
The contestants, DJ Cassie, Eighty6, Sash B, Gremlin, DJ Latino and DJ Shameless, will compete at the District NightClub in Cape Town on 14 December. The announcement follows a call out for all DJs around the world to submit a performance video to be in with a chance of joining the competition.
“Red Bull 3Style has been advancing and celebrating the culture of DJing since 2010,” Red Bull said. “The six local DJs will prove their skills and ability to get a party jumping in a 15-minute mix showcasing at least three music genres. The winner of the national final will head to the Red Bull 3Style World DJ Championships in Russia.
“The format of the competition will enable each competing DJ to play a combination of at least three musical genres within a 15 minutes slot, aiming to impress the judges and the crowd. The skills needed to become South Africa’s top party rocker will be judged on the DJ’s originality, skills, music selection and crowd response.”
Previous winners of the Red Bull 3Style competition in South Africa have achieved success in the world of deejaying. These winners include Tha Cutt (2012), Ryan the DJ (2017) and Ameeth Shah (2018).
The Red Bull 3Style national finals will be held in more than 20 countries across the globe from September 2019 to February 2020.
