REMA’S “Calm Down” climbs 8-7 for a new billboard Hot 100 High this week

Rema and Selena Gomez’s “Calm Down” hits a new billboard Hot 100 peak this week.

The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data. “Calm Down” remix climbs from No. 8 to No. 7 on the chart as it tops the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart for a 32nd week, extending the longest command since the list began a year ago (in partnership with music festival and global brand Afro Nation).

This new feat arrives barely a week after the Nigerian singer delivered a soothing version of the song on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. It adds to a list of notable Billboard appearances scored by the Afrobeats singer. This week, the record peaked no. 5 and no. 6 on Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. US charts, respectively. Already, the song claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, jumping from No. 8, besting its prior No. 4 high set in September, with 53.3 million streams (essentially even week-over-week) and 4,000 downloads sold (up 18%) at the time in territories outside the U.S. Dec. 30-Jan. 5. He topped Global Excl. U.S. in his first appearance on the chart – and becomes the first act from Africa to reign.

Nigeria native Rema released the original version of the song last February as the second single from his debut solo LP, Rave & Roses which peaked at No. 2 on Billboard‘s World Albums chart. The Gomez-assisted remix arrived on August 25, 2022. In January, the song set record as the most view African music video on YouTube.
