Rocky Dawuni will perform at the upcoming Global Landscapes Forum in Accra Ghana, the Food Tank Summit in New York City and the Clean Cooking Forum in Nairobi, Kenya.
First up Rocky Dawuni joins a team of UN Stakeholders at an international conference in Accra on Tuesday, October 29 & 30th, 2019, dubbed “GLF Accra 2019” (Global Landscapes Forum).
“GLF Accra will bring various stakeholders across the globe convening here in our capital city to discuss ways of sustaining our environment. The conversations will be based on land restoration initiatives and also highlight the need to plant more trees to boost ecosystems” Rocky Dawuni explained.
Rocky, a UN Goodwill Ambassador for the Environment for Africa, further added that he is part of a campaign to kick off a tree planting initiative in his home country of Ghana where he will liaise with Accra’s Mayor to plant 100,000 trees within the capital for the pilot project.
Mohammed Adjei Sowah, current Accra Mayor, who is also part of the Global Covenant of Mayors, is very keen on restoring the ecosystem in Accra has openly joined hands with Rocky Dawuni for the tree planting project which officially launches in early 2020 to coincide with the rainy season.
The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy is an international coalition of cities and local governments with a shared long-term vision.
On the 100,000 trees planting initiative, Rocky Dawuni says, “the intent is to collaborate with not just the Accra Mayor but the local chiefs within the greater Accra area and later replicated across other cities and regions across the country to boost more community involvement“.
Rocky will also announce his collaboration and joining forces with Rita Marley, and aligning their foundation, Rita Marley Foundation and Rocky Dawuni Foundation for a joint tree planting and environmental initiative in Ghana and across Africa.
Rita Marley, wife of Reggae Legend Bob Marley was recently honoured by the Government of Jamaica with one of their highest national awards.
