International music icon and humanitarian activist, Rocky Dawuni has been billed for a program titled “Music and Chai” with Rocky Dawuni which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 9,2019 at Broiche,the Alchemist in Nairobi.
Music and Chai is an intimate afternoon-tea event, hosted by Sadz Ibrahim and the goal of this event is to educate the young and upcoming musicians about the value of failures and breaking the stereotype of overnight success in the music industry.
Rocky Dawuni is expected to thrill fans with his usual top-notch live performance and also share insights on music and his artistic journey.
The Ghanaian who currently lives in Los Angeles is one of the known and respected musicians in Ghana, Africa and many parts of the world due to his exceptional song writing skills, energetic performances and his humanitarian activism.
Rocky Dawuni calls his style of music ‘Afro roots’ which is the combination of Raggae, Afrobeat and Ghanaian indegineous music, highlife.
Rocky Dawuni has recorded seven full-length albums by 2019. In 2015, his sixth studio album titled ‘Branches of The Same Tree’ was nominated at world most reputable music awards scheme, Grammys as the Best Reggae Album of the year.
His stature as a cultural diplomat and successful melding of music and activism have led him to become a spokesperson for various global causes. He is now a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for Africa for UN Environment and also a Global Ambassador for the UN Foundation’s Clean Cooking Alliance alongside actress Julia Roberts and Chef José Andrés.
