As widely speculated in the wake of Worlasi’s trip chez Sena Dagadu in Hungary, the acts have indeed partnered for a joint album.
Christened “Wings,” the work is scheduled for release next month.
This is not the first time the pair are collaborating on music. In 2016, Sena appeared on Worlasi’s sobering number, “One Life.” Since then, a mutual respect has grown between both acts. Discussing Worlasi’s music in a 2018 ENEWS interview, Sena said:
“The EP I last soak, and really really enjoy, was Worlasi’s Outerlane. It freaked me out. It just completely freaked me out. I was humbled by his artistry, and I gained a whole level of respect for such a young talented artisan in today’s world”.
“Wings”, according to an official press release, encapsulates “eclectic sounds and the creative energy of both artists.” Unsurprisingly the records on the LP express influences from both Ghana and Hungary, exploring reggae, pop, hip-hop and soul cuts across the 9 tracks.
The songs on “Wings” were also rendered in West African Pidgin, interspersed with the Ghanaian Ewe dialect.
The album’s official release is slated for the 8th of April but is available for pre-order on aftownmusic at 10.00GHS. The release is part of the Hungarian Cultural Week scheduled for the 10th to 13th of April.
An album listening party will be held at BBNZ Live Bar on Friday the 12th of February from 6pm onwards. Do look out for it and let us know what you think about it.
