The Director of Creative Arts responsible for Programs & Projects at the National Commission on Culture (NCC), Socrates Sarfo has revealed that, critics in a particular sector selected to present their views to the media are fluffy.
According to him, critics, precisely the entertainment pundits lacks depth of intellect or knowledge; they are concerned with what is obvious, making their submissions to developmental issue unsatisfactory.
Mr. Sarfo noted that, panel members lack morally admirable or positive qualities especially those suitable for a thing specified, making their constructive criticism on the country’s entertainment sector intolerable to creative arts practictioners.
Mr. Socrates Sarfo made this asseverations in an interview on an Accra-based Onua 95.1 FM entertainment talkshow “Anigye Mmre” hosted by Christian Agyei Frimpong.
The one time movie producer, Mr. Sarfo noted that, entertainment practitioners who serve as panel members on radio or tv shows are not abreast with the difficulties and trauma encountered by Ghana’s creative arts sector, contributing to bias remarks.
He added that, the people appointed to judge or criticise entertainment centred shows present themselves in a state of being hollow, emboldening them to make their submissions with personal sentiments and streets ignorance.
He stated that, radio managers must be privy to the fact that, radio and TV broadcasting is not limited to the enclave of music, revealing that, there are flagship and educational programmes that needs undiluted investments to enable it burst out of its shells.
The Director of Creative Arts Mr. Socrates Sarfo advised entertainment talkshow hosts and their producers to engage quality pundits on their shows to make constructive criticism that will elevate the creative arts sector from its retrogressing state.
