President of the 4th Republic Of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has alluded to his proclamation of this year as the “Year of Return” for all Africans in the diaspora.
According to him, The “Year of Return” is to commemorate the “400th anniversary of the arrival of the first 20 West African slaves in the Commonwealth of Virginia in what was to become the United States of America.
President Nana Akufo-Addo revealed that, his addministration intend to use the symbolism of this ‘Year of Return’ to bring together Africans, persons of African descent and all well-wishers of freedom to strengthen the commitment to ensuring the blacks in their history.
Meanwhile, President Nana Akufo-Addo has revealed that, an ebullience 40-million dollar grant has been established by authority; given authoritative approval, by the World Bank to elevate current state of Ghana’s tourism and Creative Arts sector.
According to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, the 40 million dollar privilege that has been granted, will help develop, enhance and make Ghana an attractive tourist site to tourists across the globe at large.
Delivering his third State Of The Nation’s Address(SoNA) since assuming office, on the floor of Parliament before members of the Legislative House, on Thursday, February 21, 2019, President Akuffo-Addo stated that, the New Patriotic Party administration is relevant to the progress of tourism in the country and so has put pragmatic steps in place to support the Tourism Ministry and its agencies.
According to the Commander-In-Chief Of The Ghana Armed Forces, the Tourism Ministry under the auspices of his administration has bestirred a campaign dubbed “See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana and Feel Ghana” to inculcate a sense of patronizing made-in-Ghana products on the minds of Ghanaians and its diaspora.
President Akufo-Addo revealed that, beneath the See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana and Feel Ghana campaign, the Ghana Tourism Authority recorded a 20 percent growth since its launch to cover to over 600,000 visitations to various tourist sites. The World Bank has approved 40-million dollar grant to support the Tourism Ministry and its agencies to help upgrade tourist facilities.
