According to a statistic from Africa’s biggest digital music service, Boomplay, Ghanaian born Afro-fusion, Reggae/Dancehall icon, Livingstone Etse Satekla, who performs as Stonebwoy, leads the celebration, as he’s being rated 1st out the Top 10 most listened to artiste on the continent in 2018.
In 2019, the music stream portal, Boomplay unleashed a catalog which demonstrates the music listening habit in Ghana. The statistic reveals that, music fanatics have over a billion times engaged in streaming under the year of review.

The online music portal which is currently available for Web and Android use, as of August 3, 2018, recorded an estimated 10 million installations off the Google Play App store and currently has 32 million users, massing up a total of 119 thousand music lovers Generated playlists.
CEO of Burniton Music Group and Bhimnation President, Stonebwoy, was peaked first as the most streamed and listened to artiste of the year by number of plays on the boomplay music service.
Epistles of Mama album which was released in December, 2017 also comfortably leads the most streamed and listened to album of the year chart and also maintained the top spot as the most trending artiste on the service.
King Promises mega-hit CCTV sits as the most streamed song of the year. The artiste also sits as 3rd on the list of Top Artiste of the year after Shatta Wale who takes the second position on the list.
“You are Great” by Steve Crown sits undefeated as the top most trending song of the year, followed by “Angela” by Kuami Eugene and “Mani Me” by Stonebwoy.
A closer look at the statistics also reveals interesting insights on Ghana’s favorite genres as Afropop and Afro-fusion remained number one most listened to genre. Christian and Gospel music comes in at 3rd followed by Hip Hop and Rap.
