STONEBWOY stages thrilling performances in New York and Columbus: Photos

STONEBWOY staged an increasingly rare back-to-back performances last weekend, delivering a unique set of hits during the US leg of his newly announced world tour.

The multi-award-winning reggae & dancehall, afrobeats artiste headlined the Palladium Times Square in New York on Friday (March 03) and The Forum in Columbus Ohio on Saturday (March 04) to commemorate this Ghana’s 66th independence anniversary celebration, performing from a vibrant stage, state-of-the-art sound systems, and mesmerizing visual effects to an estimated thousands of concert goers for over 180 minutes each.

His hit-heavy set on each night opened with 2022’s self-affirmative single “Gidigba” (Firm & Strong) and included chart-toppers “Therapy,” “Activate,” “More Of You” and “Pull Up,” alongside several fan favorites from his expansive discography “Mightylele,” “Kpokeke,” “People Dey,” “Everlasting,” “Nominate,” “Hero,” “Higher,” “Shuga,” “Putuu,” backed by a fullset band.

Stonebwoy’s three-hour-long set on each night demonstrated his commitment to his fans and his craft and was also filled with plenty of surprises in between; featuring a handful of guest talents who took turns to thrill the audience. Fans in attendance were thrilled to see the multi-genre and multi-talented composer deliver an energetic and heartfelt performance, complete with striking lights and impressive choreography.

For Ohio, Columbus, as Stonebwoy arrived in the city on March 4, he was welcomed culturally with an ensemble that showcased Ghana’s rich cultural traditions before the big night’s events. On Sunday, March 5, an after-party for the 66th Ghana Independence Celebration event included a surprise birthday celebration for Stonebwoy, who turned 35. The event was attended by his wife Dr. Louisa, several other notable music executives, and some fans.

Stonebwoy’s spring 2023 world tour continues on 9th April, with the Ghanaian musician headlining 9 cities in Europe through out April before wrapping up in UK’s London, Birmingham and Manchester in May.
