Billboard-charting artiste, Tems, will be joining two-time Grammy-winning artist Jazmine Sullivan as headliners for Manifesto 2022, as the festival prepares to take over Budweiser Stage from August 8 to 13.
The festival, which began in 2007, serves as a cultural catalyst by offering a diverse range of free or low-cost programming. It provides local artists with access to opportunities to gain experience, connect with new audiences, and power a multi-disciplinary talent incubator for future leaders.
Sullivan won Best R&B Performance at this year’s Grammys for her project Heaux Tales, while Tems’ recent collaboration with Future and Drake, “Wait for U,” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart—making her the first African artist to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
“This summer is already turning out to be a legendary moment for the city, with all the festivals and curated activations that are coming to Toronto, and our city finally being viewed as a central destination for high-end live musical experiences,” said Marcus Adade, Manifesto’s Programming Director, in a statement.
“Manifesto Festival goes a bit further with the aim to create the most memorable moments and continue to add to the rich legacy of live concert experiences. In the planning stages, the community was the central plot in our mood-board and we confidently feel that this festival is the people’s choice award.”
This year’s programming includes but not limited to concerts and performances, art exhibitions, community events, workshops, talks, summits, pop-ups, and the flagship Manifesto Festival of Community & Culture. Tickets for Manifesto can be found on their official website and will go on sale to the general public June 10 at 10 a.m. ET. Pre-sale tickets are limited to those who sign up on their website and will go on sale from June 7 to 9.
