The Ghana Youth Movement for Peace and Progressive Development GYMPED, officially launched it’s first maiden edition of the Ghana Humanitarian and Business Awards(G.H.B Awards 2018) which took place in Accra at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel on Friday 29th June,2018.
The Awards scheme had been constituted by GYMPED to formally recognize and also appreciate the various humanitarian works being engaged by the good people of Ghana especially among individuals, corporate institutions, agencies, NGOs, CSO’s and other leading companies that has contributed directly in the engagements of Corporate Social Responsibilities as part of it’s fulfillment towards the CSR police framework.
Among some of the Key dignitaries that attended the launching was a Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central Constituency and a Government of Ghanaian Representative to the event in the person of; Hon. Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey whom delivered a speech at the launching ceremony, together with other leading players from Corporate Ghana, UNDP, NYA among others whom were all present as invited guests to the occasion.
The Executive Director of GYMPED and the President of the G.H.B Awards Scheme Alfred Nartey-Agbo in his address emphasis on the fact that, the awards scheme constituted is entirely different from many other awards scheme’s in the country. In that the G.H.B Awards focus more on philanthropy involvements among every Ghanaian, CSRs, NGOs, Companies(public and private), agencies’ among many others and that the various categories within the nomination cuts across various sectors of the economy with active participation from the general public and evaluation and assessment from the G.H.B Awarding board.
GYMPED called on the Government of Ghana to support and to encourage such an initiative and other leading stakeholders to be part and parcel of this national agenda in seeking to reward its heroes in a broader aspects in line with social contributions to the works of humanity.
GYMPED called on the Government of Ghana to improve on the living conditions of its people since the Government cannot do it all alone, and that such an initiative would advance the course of social works among individuals , private and public Institutions and other leading organizations to contribute and to invest into our economy in fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals.
This year awards scheme is in fulfillment of the UN World Humanitarian Day which is celebrated globally among developed and developing countries upon which Ghana is a stakeholder towards this undertaken.
In line with this year celebrations’, the G.H.B Awards night would be organized in Ghana on the eve day of such celebration. GYMPED leading members, Governing council and the Awarding Board is to make a Courtesy call at the Presidency, Jubilee house to officially announces the constituted awards scheme to His Excellency the President of the Republic Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo and at the same time, using the opportunity to extend a special invitation to the President to be the Special-Guest- of Honor at the main Awards night.
GYMPED promised Ghanaians as well as the media to discharge it’s obligations with truth and honesty, fairness, compassion and sincerity which would be its hallmark for the various selection process and that the awards scheme would be discharge on credibility grounds on an annually basis.
The chosen theme for this year awards night is ” rewarding corporate social responsibility engagements and businesses in Ghana for transformational development”
The G.H.B Awards shall encourage every Ghanaian and Institutions to give back to the society in connection with what it deserves as its direct social contract with the entire Ghanaian people from home and abroad.
The organizers of the Awards scheme called on all concerned stakeholders to invest into this national event by way of collaborations, partnership and sponsoring in other to achieve its purpose for national development. The G.H.B Awards would be looking at the merit and the creditable contributions from fellow countrymen and women, Companies, public and private institutions as well as agencies. GYMPED encourage all the people present, that God would continue to bless us and to make our nation great and strong within Ghana and across the West- Africa sub regions.
