The Weeknd has unveiled the cover art for his upcoming album, Dawn FM, which is slated for release on Friday, January 7. Pre-save : http://theweeknd.co/dawnfm
The artwork, which The Weeknd shared to Instagram, sees the Toronto-based artist as an older version of himself, complete with wrinkles, grey hair beard and a solemn expression on his face. The Weeknd’s aged-up persona, which previously appeared in the minute-long trailer for the forthcoming project, appears to be the artist’s key identity on the album.
On Monday, The Weeknd announced that his fifth studio album, described as a “new sonic universe from the mind of The Weeknd,” will hit streaming services on Friday (Jan. 7), with contributions from Quincy Jones, Tyler, the Creator, Lil Wayne, and Oneohtrix Point Never.
The minute-clip trailer also features narration from Jim Carrey, who tweeted, “I listened to Dawn FM with my good friend Abel @theweeknd last night. It was deep and elegant and it danced me around the room. I’m thrilled to play a part in his symphony.”
“dawn FM” marks the follow-up to 2020’s After Hours. In August, The Weeknd released the album’s first single, “Take My Breath.”
