Ghanaian sensational female gospel artist Cece Twum has opened up about the truth surrounding the controversies as to whether gospel music pays or not here in Ghana.
On ‘My Praise’ show with Dj Toxic on Neat 100.9fm the musician who doubles as a lady pastor revealed that, indeed doing gospel music in Ghana here doesn’t pay at all. Most gospel musicians are poor behind the scenes despite they might be in the lime light and seem to be happy on the faces. She attributed such occurrence from home training we have received over years.
“Who ever tells you gospel music pays in Ghana here is lying. It actually doesn’t pay at all. This whole instance of the reason behind why most Christians are poor dates back from our home. You could testify with me that when we were kids our parents usually gives us coins as offering because we going to the house of the Lord. But how can you give coins to God and expect to be rich? She queried.
She also attributed it to the fact that it is perceived that Christian’s are not suppose to be wealthy in Ghana here.
” In Ghana here there is a perception that Christian’s are suppose to be poor because the poor will make it to heaven whiles the rich will make it to hell. Because of this myth people find it difficult in supporting anything related to Christ. They hate to see a pastor ride in the latest car, they hate to see a gospel musician dress fashionably and put on make up. If you are a musician and you do such thing to some other people there is a query about your gospel music”. She lamented.
She also went on to talk about the cooperate body and organization not ready to support gospel music or gospel shows as the return is less or its not a profit making business so they prefer to support the circular music where there is enough returns.
This and many more reasons has attributed to making gospel musicians very poor in the country.
