American musician & record executive; Timbaland, rising American rapper; Cappella Grey, fast-rising Nigerian act; Lojay, South African Amapiano star; Focalistic will reportedly feature on international Afrobeats superstar, Davido’s forthcoming album.
Speaking to L’Officiel Fashion Book – Australia in a recent interview, the Nigerian-American singer revealed that his forthcoming 5th career full-length will premiere without receiving too many guest verses or features from other elite musicians from across the music market. The album, he says, would be more about his brand and will also serve as an introspective piece, emphasizing his path and how he made his goals a reality.
“Funny enough, this upcoming album doesn’t really have that much collabs,” he told L’Officiel Fashion Book. “I really wanted to make it more about Davido. Right now I’ve worked with a lot of people on this album. The producer, Timberland. There’s this new catch from New York. His name is Cappella Grey. He’s amazing. A couple of new artists from Nigeria too. This dude called Lojay. Have you heard of him? This dude from South Africa called Focalistic, he’s going crazy.”
“International collaborations. I know many do that, like that’s probably the last stage for me. I’m more of finishing the project to my satisfaction. If I bump into somebody I’m like, “Yo, you want to get on this for the album?” If it works out, it works out. If it don’t, it don’t. Funny enough, my biggest records are by myself,” he added
Davido currently has 4 albums: “Omo Baba Olowo”, “Son of Mercy”, “A Good Time” and “A Better Time” credited to his career.
On “A Better Time” – his recent album, Davido taped hip-hop aesthetics by featuring heavyweights: Lil Baby, Young Thug and Nicki Minaj , while confirming his position as one of Afrobeats’ greatest artists. Promising more style, fun and expression, he delivered exactly that—crooning over warm grooves and infectious melodies.
