The maiden edition of Trace Made in Africa has been cancelled due to “logistical difficulties,” the organizers announce.
The three-day Afro-urban festival, which was scheduled for the iconic Alfândega do Porto in Portugal from June 24–26, 2022, was expected to be a musical, fashion, dance, lifestyle, and art celebration of Africa’s great and rich culture. Global music icon, Stonebwoy, was announced as the headline act for the festival.
In an official communique shared on Tuesday (June 21), the Made in Africa team said: “Despite our best efforts, as well as losing our major media partner, the MIA team tried tirelessly to salvage this event; however, our efforts were unsuccessful and we have had to cancel the festival and all extra events.”
“We had every intention to provide an unforgettable experience that brought the afro-urban community together, showcased its diversity and strength to the world,” the new statement added
Trace Made In Africa was set to feature some of the most groundbreaking musicians and singers from all genres of music as well as display a “substantial selection of art installations from all over the world.” It was expected to feature a variety of compelling activities, including dance shows, competitions, exclusive after-parties, and amazing gastronomic experiences.
