Celebrated Ghanaian disc Jokey known in the circle as DJ Mic Smith with brand name the Shutdown king who is the hands behind the unlimited fun on the drive time on Yfm 107.9 yesterday hosted colleague DJs and industry people at a Dj workshop and Symposium.
The event took place yesterday, 23rd November 2018 at the BBNZ Studios here in Accra. To kick off, an introductory speech was given by mic smith. He spoke about his career being a Dj, his ups and downs, the types of DJing, the tools and skills required among others.
He rounded up going in-depth about the types of softwares various DJs use and their benefits and touched on his plans to expand his territory as a Dj and branching into executive production of music as well. Mic Smith couldn’t go without talking about his collaborations and how he ended up getting the mainstream artists on his music.
The second to speak at the workshop was Bernard Ghartey, who spoke about financial management. He educated on saving, investing and growing finances as a DJ and an entertainment industry person. He gave a well drafted presentation on steps to take to reach these goals.
Legendary Dj Rab took the stage right after to speak on DJing as an art. He spoke about being creative as a Dj and not limiting yourself to the norm. He gave an in-depth talk on his career journey in the US and moving to Ghana as well. He further introduced a very simple and easy way of DJing with some innovative softwares to allow easy mobility for DJs.
Dennis Gawuga, spoke about branding as a Dj which sparked a discussion between the guest speakers and the audience. Then came business executive and artist manager George Britton, who also spoke about the role of DJs in building and making the career of an artist.
The sessions ended with a hands-on and fun-filled experience of the turntables and some new Dj software were also introduced to the Dj community to enhance their work.
