AFRIMA’19: Stonebwoy Wins His Third Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste Of The Year.

LAGOS STATE, NIGERIA (www.goergebritton) – Ghanaian Reggae & Dancehall and Afro fusion recording and performing artiste, Livingstone Etse Satekla, professionally known as Stonebwoy has added another prestigious laurel to his trophy cabinet after winning the continent’s most covetous award at the just ended 2019 edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA)

Slated for 20th – 23rd November at the Convention Centre Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, the multiple awards-winning reggae artiste won the Best Artiste/Group/Duo in African Reggae/Ragga & Dancehall with his latest single, Tuff Seed. He becomes the only African Reggae & Dancehall artiste to win three (2015, 2018, 2019) plaques from this category.

Stonebwoy competed against a host of musicians in the category, including his bitter rival (now friends), Shatta Wale (Ghana), Navy Kenzo (Tanzania), Patoranking (Nigeria), Praiz (Nigeria), Rosa Ree (Tanzania), Rude Boy (Nigeria), Timaya (Nigeria), and Winky D (Zimbabwe).

The 6th All Africa Music Awards, had in attendance music stars, dignitaries, and music lovers across the continent, the annual music event seeks to celebrate and reward African talents who have done exceedingly well in the year. With a total of 36 categories, the 6th AFRIMA winners are culled from the Regional and Continental categories (10 Regional Categories and 26 Continental Categories).

AFRIMA, is designed to promote the distinct rich African music worldwide, engaging millions of fans by propelling African music to glorious pinnacles beyond the borders of Africa. In Africa, music is always seen as inseparable from human existence. It carries long traditions and values that are associated with the people and represents part of their identities.

Music in African societies, as it functions in many different societies in the world, has enormous value. Music, either making it or listening to it,is linked to life experiences and peoples’ culture. In addition, special recognition awards fully decided by the International Committee of AFRIMA is awarded to individuals who have impacted positively to the world using their craft.

In 24 hours earlier to the Awards Ceremony, Stonebwoy proved to be the epitome of Reggae & Dancehall music in Ghana and Africa at large, after thrilling thousands of patrons at the Accra Technical University (ATU) campus, Ghana. His performance on the night was outstanding, and the reception from the fans was overwhelming and humongous. He dished out tunes, such as People Dey, Ololo (featuring Teni), Shuga (featuring Beenie Man) from his catalogue, that got the reserved fans jamming to.
