Ghanaian-born singer-songwriter, Ama Adem, delivers her long-awaited music video, representing a love that takes us far away. “Faded” which was released June 18th, 2021.
Ama began songwriting at age nine and has been elevating in her craft since. Taking in many Ghanian legends and British singer-songwriters from early, a balance of western and Ghanian influences can be seen in her creative storytelling.
As she works to balance a music career with one as a computer engineer and tech analyst for an investment bank, Ama is ready to re-debut herself on the music scene with “Faded.” Furthermore, we are to expect more music later this year.
Ama is keen not to be put in one genre box, existing somewhere between afro-soul and Afropop, bringing melodies and rhythms across multiple genres, Ama delivers soothing vocals and lyrics based on lived experiences in order to take listeners on a journey as they navigate their own lives.
The “Faded” video, shot by Prince Dovlo in Ghana last December, explores the metaphor of love as a cruise, in addition to the idea of trust and safety within a relationship. The repeated theme of letting go relates to exploring a person without a metaphorical life jacket. Then with regard to lockdown, with everyone in their room, the idea highlighted is one of the fantasies of being in love taking us far away.
