Audiomack names Black Sherif as new #UpNow artiste for August

Black Sherif has been named as Audiomack’s latest ‘UP NOW’ artist for August, just weeks after hitting over 100 million streams on the free music sharing and discovery platform.

Launched in April 2020, the emerging artiste program seeks to spotlight and promote the next generation of global music superstars. Black Sherif will be featured on the cover of Audiomack’s prestigious #UpNow playlist and will receive amplification across the platform’s channels with specialized marketing, editorial, social support, playlisting, custom videos, and more.

“I’m excited to be an Audiomack #UpNow artist,” Black Sherif said. “I’ve had Audiomack since high school. It was the first platform that I used and convinced my friends to listen to my music. It was easier, and it looked professional. It’s been the primary way for me to connect with my fans and share music.”

Sherif’s sleek but compelling discography conveys his hustler’s tale. In August of 2020, he debuted on the platform with his “Forgive My Accent” freestyle, but became a household talent in 2021 after going viral with his “First Sermon” and “Second Sermon”. His fanbase further expanded after he published a Burna Boy-assisted “Second Sermon” remix later that year.

In March 2022, Sherif released his most introspective song yet, “Kwaku The Traveller.” The song is noted to have contributed immensely to his Audiomack growth, with over 35 million streams, making it the most-streamed song of 2022, thusly, on the platform. He also received significant recognition from DJ Khaled, who lauded the Ghanian artist’s latest single on his Instagram as a “big chune.”

Black Sherif is the current winner of four 3Music Awards. He debuted a spectacular performance of his latest single, “Kwaku the Traveller,” at the same event. The song catapulted him to African stardom, charting at No. 1 on the streaming platform for several weeks.

“We’re thrilled to have Black Sherif as our next #UpNow artist,” Audiomack SVP of Marketing and Brand Strategy Jason Johnson said. “We have been fans of him since his first upload on the platform in 2020, and it is amazing to see his growth over the last two years.” We look forward to collaborating with his team to help showcase his talent, expand his brand and further introduce his music to a diverse array of fans.”

Audiomack’s #UpNow program has been renowned for helping identify and uplift the next generation of emerging artists across hip-hop, R&B, AfroBeats and more. Omah Lay and Ayra Star are the program alumni from Africa. Previous #UpNow honorees include Rod Wave, EST Gee, Blxst, Pooh Shiesty, and Sheff G, among others.

Earlier this summer, Audiomack reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its global presence by signing a new licensing agreement with Universal Music Group that will see the leading record label make its content available to the streamer’s subscribers across Africa, the United Kingdom & Canada and will also provide a full catalog offering for its premium subscribers in Africa.
