Bobby Shmurda donates 2,000 backpacks filled with supplies to NYC schools

Bobby Shmurda continues to give back to his community.

For his latest philanthropic endeavor, Bobby donated 2,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to several public schools across New York City.

The backpacks, loaded with an array of pencils, pens, pencil cases, notebooks, folders, and highlighters, were delivered to three elementary schools in Brooklyn (P.S. 268 Emma Lazarus, P.S. 219 Kennedy King, and P.S. 92 Adrian Hegeman); an all-boys middle school in Queens (Eagle Academy for Young Men III); Harlem’s P.S. 76 A. Philip Randolph; and Health Opportunities High School in the Bronx.

Alongside the donation, Shmurda shared a heartfelt video message that was played for the students at each school.

“Please do not give your mommas no trouble this year,” the 27-year-old Brooklyn rapper said in the short clip. “And please do not give your teachers no trouble this year.”

Bobby continued, “I want to say that I’m proud of y’all for being brave, for being strong, and for staying in school. Always remember you guys are unstoppable. You can do anything you set your mind to.”

The donation comes days after Drake unveiled Shmurda as the face of the latest collaboration between OVO and the NBA. It’s scheduled to drop as part of OVO’s upcoming Fall/Winter 2021 collection, and features Shmurda showcasing some New York Knicks items.

He also wears a Knicks hat similar to the one he wore in the “Hot N***a” video, although this time around it also features OVO’s iconography.
