Aisha Obuobi, Creative Director of this fashion house got inspired by Grandmother Christie Brown, a seamstress, who creates rich and vibrant garments. Hence became the brand name in March 2008. Today, Christie Brown stands uniquely as a women’s apparel and accessories manufacturer and retailer with pieces ranging from beautiful bespoke gowns, practical yet statement pieces to innovative accessories all inspired by the African culture and art.
Aisha Obuobi has been nominated as African Designer of the Year by GlitzAfrica for the glitz style awards 2018.
From winning the Emerging Designer of the Year Award in 2009 at the Arise Africa Fashion Week in Johannesburg; to being the only Ghanaian label showcased at the Arise L’Afrique-A-Porter in Paris Fashion Week in March 2010; to capturing the attention of global fashion influencers such as Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue Italia, Canoe 53 and Glamour Magazine, the brand has a consistent history of international acclaim and recognition.
