Ghanaian Music Industry’s Failure To Push New Acts! Analysing It’s Future Consequences

The problem with the Ghanaian Music industry is not with Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy nor Samini but the industry itself- the unknown problem is within the industry and can be solved by itself and it’s players.

There is a huge problem in the industry unknown to many which has chances and potentials of destroying it in the near future- the problem is not about hatred, beefs, industry rivalries nor enough funds to push upcoming acts but it’s failure to produce and push new acts and the musical new generation.

The Ghanaian music industry over the years, has only focused and given it’s already established and globally known acts attention than the new generation- the industry has been in the business of promoting and giving free publicity to it’s trending and already made artistes.

I have observed and come to conclusion that in the near future, Nigerians will have big and globally known acts than Ghana- I’m not being pessimistic but the truth is that, the Nigerian music industry is not facing the unknown industry problem the Ghanaian music industry is facing.

Comparing the two music industries, one cannot dispute and refute the fact former produces and promotes new acts than the latter- for purposes and records, the Nigerian music industry doesn’t focus more on it’s already established acts than it’s upcoming and new acts unlike the Ghanaian.

Entertainment savvies and pundits will admit that when one looks at the Nigerian music industry, all he or she sees is upcoming and young acts getting recognitions and attentions internationally and globally through the push of the industry- unlike the Ghanaian music industry that pushes only it’s big acts, the Nigerian pushes all, particularly it’s new ones.

Ghana has new and talented acts such as Gyakie, Wolarsi, Camidoh, Kweku Flick, Yaw Tog, Larusso and many more but none of these young and talented acts gets the kind of push and free publicity A list artistes such as Shatta wale, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy or better still Samini gets- The industry has in all these years failed to realize that the new acts it is failingly failing to push will be replacing it’s A list artistes when they are no more, musically.

One whose intelligence and intellectualism cover music topics cannot state emphatically and unequivocally that Nigerian new acts such as joeboy, Teni, Zlatan, Naira Marley are bigger and talented than the likes of Gyakie, Larusso, Kweku Flick and Yaw Tog- One will ask if they are all talented, why are some trending international and globally than others? The answer is simple and is because they the Nigerian acts get attention than the Ghanaian!

It is high time the industry realized that it is killing it future by pushing and promoting only A list acts leaving it’s young ones to suffer and struggle- The Ghanaian Industry might not be able to compare itself to the Nigerian in future if it fails to push it’s new talents- that is the unknown industry problem which must be discovered and resolved with an immidiate effect by itself and it’s players.
