Malik Jabir Warn Kotoko Not To Butt Into Mariano Barreto’s Job

Former Asante Kotoko coach Malik Jabir, has advised the club to offer new manager Mariano Barreto free hands to operate as head coach.

Barreto on his first game at the dugout for Kotoko led the team to their biggest win of the season this far, smashing  Bechem United 4-0.

Following the good start of the Portuguese, Jabir has suggested that the Reds do not interfere in the coach’s line of duty.

“The second round has just begun and the performance of the Asante Kotoko players so far is very encouraging.” He told Gye Nyame

“I am pleading to all and sundry to allow the coach to work peacefully. He was brought in to be the head coach so just allow him and give the team to him.”

“No one should interfere with his work when it comes to coaching issues. Commentaries and suggestions as to what he should do and not must seize. Whoever thinks he can do the job must go for it than throwing jabs from the outside.”

He continued that the Porcupine fans should throw their weight behind the coach instead of criticising when things go south.

“The popular saying that fans can criticize the tactics of a coach because they understand football must not be encouraged because fans cannot create philosophies and tactics. What these fans must know is that they cannot do the job of the coach.”

“Whoever is not content with the coach must allow his contract to run out before assessing him.”

“There’s no coach in this world who doesn’t want to win, even big teams in Europe are suffering.”
