Marvel Shares Original Plans For Thanos’ Backstory In Avengers.

Forget Baby Yoda for a second, because Baby Thanos now exists – as does toddler Thanos, school-age Thanos, and brooding teenager Thanos.

Shortly following the release of Marvel’s Infinity Saga collection, a book detailing the original concept art of Avengers: Endgame has been released, including an ‘Unused Concepts’ section that includes some of the inspiration for Infinity War.

Revealing Marvel’s initial plans for a more in-depth exploration of Thanos’ past, concept images (via CBR.com) show Thanos as both a baby and an adolescent.

Marvel Studios’ creative director Ryan Meinerding explained the ideas behind the artwork, revealing that Infinity War‘s writers were going to include “Thanos’ backstory” right from the very beginning.

Showing the Avengers villain malformed from birth, the scrapped plot also imagined Thanos growing up a pariah, and even “having an actual teen moment of being that seven-foot tall awkward teenager”.

While fans will never get to see baby Thanos come to life in the way Infinity War writers may have hoped, there is now a whole host of deleted scenes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe available to peruse.

Bonus material from the Infinity Saga collection includes key moments across the MCU’s 23 titles that never made the cut, including Hulk breaking out of the Hulkbuster and Thor trying to kiss Valkyrie.

Avengers: Endgame is out now on DVD, Blu-ray, 3D,4K and digital download.
