MTN Shortz Holds Film Making Workshop To Empower Filmmakers.

The day three of MTN Open Coffee came off yesterday and it was the turn of filmmakers to get some enlightening in their field of play. For the first time in three days, we recorded an overflow. This tells how important this workshop is for people who are into filming.

The event which took place at the MTN House, Ridge – Accra had Ivan Quashigah – Filmmaker, Producer, Director and CEO of Farmhouse Productions (The name behind popular youthful TV Series Yolo) and Yao Ladzekpo – Cinematographer, lecture at NAFTI and a Director as facilitators all as part of efforts by MTN Ghana to empower filmmakers to produce solid contents that can also be submitted for the MTN Shortz so they could make money off their creativity.

Ivan took both amateur and already existing authorities in the field through the basics of script writing, casting, production and shooting while Yao Ladzekpo gave a lecture on “the art and craft of cinematography”; the types of shoots, the angles, the reasons for some shoots in the scenes and how the camera can be used as a story telling device and not just to record events.

At the end of yesterday’s session, participants were tested on script writing and a short film was shot yesterday from the best script. MTN Ghana was very generous enough to gift participants; most engaging and best script had a 4G Brand new mobile phone while others had airtime and valuable souvenirs.

The Accra edition of the MTN Open coffee has been a blessing and an eye opener for industry professionals who were in attendance as they got enlightened on various topics cutting across divers’ fields being digested by apt professionals.
