Nana Abena Korkor Addo Gives Hope To People Living With Mental Health Conditions.

Mental health has been a front runner in the discuss for some time now as the cry for a befitting infrastructure, environment, medical supplies as well as the treatment of people with mental health at our hospitals and mental homes took the center stage.

Irrespective of the go all-out made by government, its palpable that is not enough as individuals and organizations have taken on the mantle to restore sanity and inspire hope. One of those individuals is Nana Abena Korkor Addo, a lady living with bipolar disorder.

Speaking to Nana Abena Korkor Addo the founder of psychosocial Africa an NGO which has set aside Friday 21st December 2018 to donate to the staff and mental health patients of the Ankaful psychiatric hospital. She made it known the group which is a mental health and support group made up of other bipolar patients and others with mental health issues has an annual event initiated by them in their quest to support others.

“We support each other through our crisis and medical challenges and also advocate for mental health and give education. As our way of giving back to society, we choose other mental health patients and make donations to support them. This is the second edition, the first edition we chose the foster ward at Ankaful, Central Region.”

Going on about this year’s donations and activities, she noted, “At this year’s donation, there will be a makeover session for the patients and a photo shoot so they can have one very beautiful memory of themselves they can remind themselves off when they go back home.”

She also added that, “We will also encourage them to know their condition is not the end of the world and they can come out and be successful just like myself and others.”

She rounded up by making a call on the general public to come to their aid with donations as they can’t do it all alone, donations may include; Toiletries, Insecticide spray, food stuff, Dress, cash among others.
