Two-time GRAMMY-nominated artist, Rocky Dawuni has sent out a plea to Ghanaian musicians and their fans to focus less on ‘beef’ and more on collaboration to help grow the music industry.
Since last week’s GRAMMY nomination, rumors have been rife about an alleged beef between Rocky Dawuni and Stonebwoy. This was after Rocky Dawuni shared his thoughts about who can be considered a GRAMMY nominee following Stonebwoy’s claim that he was one for being featured on three nominated albums.
However, some blogs misreported his explanation and Stonebwoy took to social media to respond by writing on Snapchat:
“Chairman is so quick to remove credit on a kid! We know them oo. But we think say them change o chai them never change,”
Reacting to the issue in an interview on HITZ FM, Rocky Dawuni expressed his disappointment over the false reportage of his GRAMMY statement and revealed it was a jab directed at Stonebwoy. He said:
“Stonebwoy sent me a congratulatory message on my GRAMMY nomination. So when I go to explain how the GRAMMY works and somebody takes my explanation and says I said something against him (Stonebwoy), it hurts me because how will my brother feel. So people should just stop it and channel all that energy into something positive.”
He passionately appealed to Ghanaians to desist from causing beef for acts and rather unite to support one another.
“We need that unified front and fanbase. A house divided against itself usually falls so let that be a lesson to us and let us work together and uplift each other.” he admonished.
