Super Bowl Halftime: Dr. Dre Leads Hip-Hop A-Team In A Star-studded Performance | WATCH HERE

Football and music fans alike were understandably excited for this year’s Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show, which saw Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Snoop Dogg hit the field at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium.

There were also special guests with 50 Cent performing “In da Club” and Anderson .Paak drumming during Eminem’s performance of “Lose Yourself.” The NFL released the full performance, which is currently blocked from displaying. You can watch it here.

It was the first time the five artists have performed together on one stage, with three of those five musicians calling the Los Angeles area home. Together, these five multi-award-winning artists received 43 Grammys and released 22 No. 1 Billboard albums. It’s also the first time in almost 30 years that the city has hosted the annual football event.

Fans have been pumped for weeks, following the late September announcement. Last month, Pepsi released a trailer that featured all five artists, directed by F. Gary Gray.

“I’m grateful to JAY-Z, Roc Nation, the NFL, and Pepsi as well as Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar for joining me in what will be an unforgettable cultural moment,” Dre said at the time of the announcement.

More recently, Blige commented on the fact that she isn’t getting paid to perform, though she doesn’t seem bothered by that one bit. “Listen, you’re gonna be paid for the rest of your life off of this,” she said while on The Cruz Show. “People are gonna be knocking at your doors. They don’t have to pay me, but if they was paying it would be a lot of money.”

And ahead of the performance, Em had major praise for K. Dot, telling Sway Calloway on SiriusXM’s Shade 45 that the Compton rapper is a “top tier lyricist.” Eminem added that Kendrick is one of the best “of all time.”
