Yaw Ampofo Ankrah a Ghanaian Sports journalist has declined his nomination for the 2018 EMY Man of the Year (Sports Category) Award.
Just a few days ago, the versatile television host was announced to be in the same category alongside Albert Frimpong (CEO Skate Soccer), Thomas Partey (Black Stars & Athletico Madrid), Isaac Dogboe (World Boxing Champion) and Akwasi Frimpong (Ghanaian Olympian).
But to our surprise, he turned down the highly prestigious nomination on the ground that he does not “deserve” to be in the same category as active Ghanaians sportsmen he believes.
In a letter intercepted by Georgebritton.com dated 6th August 2018 to the organizers, the former BBC reporter declined his nomination and pledges support for the award scheme, but feels his nomination is completely out of place, as he ended suggesting another category could be added going forward.
Yaw Ampofo is currently the President of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association, CEO of Books and Boots and with Kwese TV.
