YEAR OF RETURN; ”Government Needs To Steadfast Preparation Towards Welcoming Tourists” – George Quaye

Public Relations Officer for Charter House Ghana Limited, organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, George Quaye has tasked the ruling New Patriotic Party Government led by President Akuffo-Addo to speedily buckle up in repairing the deplorable roads that leads to the various tour site in the country.

According to Mr. George Quaye, as Ghana is, in 2019 prepared and geared towards welcoming the African diasporas, there should be proper mechanism, that needs to be laid, that will merchandise Ghana and propel the visitors to have smooth stay, as they are ready to tour the country.

In 2001, Ghana passed the right of abode law, which gives people of African ancestry in the Americas the right to stay in Ghana indefinitely. Then, in 2007, during the Ghana’s 50th independence anniversary, the ”Joseph Project” was launched to encourage the return of the descendants of enslaved Africans.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo earlier affirmed emphatically that, 2019 is ”The Year Of Return”, this is to commemorate this quarter-century since the anchoring of the first slave ship is James, Virginia.

Ghana is the only public-private African Nation to initiate the recognition of 400 years of slave trade to encourage the people of the African diaspora to make the ”Birthright journey home” as part of the global African family.

In a Facebook post sighted by www.georgebritton.com, the Public Relations Officer of the organization entity stated that, the government and the Ministry in charge of Tourism needs to readily ensure that any area set aside to publicly serve a particular purpose should be completely equip in advance to receive visitors.

According to him, appropriate toilet facilities, well trained tour guides, good receptions, neat environment, hotels, commercial vehicles drivers, retailers, community peoples, Chiefs, opinion leaders, and the media need to be accurately prepped and readied for the task ahead of the country.

Public Relations Officer for Charter House, Mr. George Quaye revealed that, it will be a great year for Ghana, if the government and the Ghanaian populace at large organize and position themselves with tours, well managed activities, and programmes that will engage, excite and leaving inerasable memories on the minds of visitors and also inciting other tourists to come and see Ghana.
