Ama Serwaa Returns With Wa’dom

Like the Psalmist in Psalm 104:33, Ama Serwaa has set her music tone to continually praise her maker. Wa’dom is essentially, acknowledging the presence of God in the daily traverse of humanity. The singer who released her maiden album last year, has finally decided to release the pre-cursor to the next album.

Many times, Ghanaian gospel music has been described as too sorrowful; and filled with “begging’s”, “demands”; quintessentially, they are “receiving anthems”. This suggests, the average Christian in Ghana continues to fail in recognising the significant blessings enjoyed from being a Christian. Songs like Wa’dom by Ama Serwaa is definitely that deliberate attempt to change the narrative.

Whilst its worth acknowledging that life isn’t the smoothest no matter your faith, it is only appropriate to bring to the fore, the ease that comes with being a Christian. Hence, acknowledging the gifts you keep receiving on a daily basis.

Her first album which was titled “Endwom Ben” was in a similar thought pattern; however, this new single derives its uniqueness from the finesse employed in the production, as well as a careful choice of lyrics, and the exquisite use of the amazing vocal ability of Ama Serwaa. All three elements were ingeniously put together by Adango, one of Ghana’s finest Keyboardists and producers.

You can describe Ama Serwaa as an emerging artiste, but her experience with live-band and several top artistes like Mary Ghansah, has helped hone this talent she constantly exudes at the touch of a microphone.

Wa’dom is definitely Ama Serwaa’s break as God who is ever faithful will bless those that continue to hail his name and presence in their lives. Whilst thanking God for an awesome single, it is good to know that, the quality of Wa’dom is comparable only to the best produced songs in Ghana.

Ama Serwaa is an officer of the Ghana immigration service whose love for God, continues to guide her pursuits.
