Omah Lay earns a Boomplay achievement plaque for surpassing 100 millions streams

Nigerian Afrobeats musician Omah Lay has earned a BOOMPLAY achievement plaque for surpassing 100 million streams on the music sharing, streaming and discovery platform.

Boomplay streams are calculated based on industry- recognized standards in which only a no less than thirty-second stream is equal to one stream count. He joins a slew of Nigerian recording and performing artistes, including Joeboy who have been honored for scoring a career milestone.

With Boomplay’s aim to bring everything music to Africa and take African music to the world, the service is committed to empowering the African music ecosystem to unlock its full potential. Boomplay has the most extensive catalogue of African music with over 70 million tracks at the moment and 65million monthly active users.

Omah Lay has chalked series of success since he made his debut. On 20 November, Omah lay released his second five-track EP, What Have We Done. All five tracks reached the top 12 of the Apple Music charts for Nigeria, with “Godly” reaching number one.

On 3 July 2020, he was the first artist highlighted for Apple’s Africa Rising Campaign to spotlight African talent. In December 2020, he was included in BBC Radio 1Xtra’s annual “Hot for 2021” list.
